Can my IELTS speaking section be scheduled on a separate day?

Can my IELTS speaking section be scheduled on a separate day?

The one line answer for the question asked is - Speaking in IELTS never happens on the same day as the main examination.

The IELTS Speaking test is also considered as the independent section of the IELTS examination. What it primarily means is that the speaking section for a given candidate can be scheduled independently anytime in between from up to a week before the main examination to until 07 days after it.

Understand the Speaking test
The Speaking test is as close to a real-life situation as an exam can get.

You will talk to a certified examiner in the IELTS Speaking test. The test is interactive and as close to a real-life situation as a test can get. A variety of accents may be used, and the test will be recorded.

Purpose of the test
The IELTS Speaking test is designed to assess a wide range of skills.

The examiner will want to see how well you can

  • communicate opinions and information on everyday topics and common experiences; to do this you will need to answer a range of questions
  • speak at length on a given topic using appropriate language
  • organise your ideas coherently
  • express and justify your opinions
  • analyse, discuss and speculate about issues

Generally in cities like Bhopal where there are not more than 50-60 candidates undertaking the examination on a given date, speaking tests are normally conducted up to 02 days prior to the main examination until 02 days after it. Also to note here, that the previous trend of scheduling the examination for speaking right after the main test is gradually disappearing due to time boundation [as the main IELTS examination takes normally up to 04 hours for its conclusion inclusive of all the pre -and post-examination formalities/ official procedures].

As far as the intimation in regards to the speaking examination is concerned, you will be notified of the same on your registered mobile/ cell-phone number and the email ID you used to register for the test. This will be normally done a week before your test date for the speaking exam. Keep in mind that under no given circumstances [except for any last minute medical emergencies] can the date for the speaking test be rescheduled for any given test-taker.

  4. IELTS exam has become widely popular these days . On daily basis , I keep on answering various questions those are related to IELTS. Taking into consideration the IELTS date, let me clear you that IDP as well as BRITISH COUNCIL do not take the test of all four modules on a single day. The test of Reading , Listening and Writing is taken on the same day whereas Speaking is scheduled either before or after the exam day .I mean three or four days prior or after the exam. Sometimes it is after or before one day of the exam also . It completely depends on them . So you need to keep your mind set for that.

However, in very rare cases it is scheduled on the same day. So single day for testing in all four module in not at all enough.
